1. About MarketPlates
MarketPlates is a New Zealand online marketplace for buying, selling, and trading personalised license plates. We connect buyers and sellers but are not a party to any transaction.
2. Who can use MarketPlates
You must be 18 or older to list or purchase plates on MarketPlates. By using this platform you confirm you are legally able to enter into binding contracts under New Zealand law.
3. Listing plates
Listing on MarketPlates is free. By listing a plate you confirm that you hold the current entitlement to that plate combination. Listing a plate constitutes a legitimate offer to sell at the stated price. MarketPlates reserves the right to remove any listing at its discretion, including listings that are offensive, fraudulent, or in breach of NZTA guidelines.
4. Buying and selling
All transactions are conducted directly between buyers and sellers. MarketPlates is not responsible for the outcome of any sale, dispute, or transfer. We strongly recommend completing a Transfer of Entitlement form via the official NZTA plate transfer process before any funds change hands.
5. Prohibited plates
You may not list plates that are offensive, obscene, misleading, or that violate NZTA decency standards. The NZTA reserves the right to recall any personalised plate at any time. MarketPlates will cooperate with NZTA and law enforcement as required.
6. Privacy
We collect only the information necessary to operate the platform. We do not sell your data to third parties. For questions about your data contact us via the feedback form on the Why MP page.
7. Limitation of liability
MarketPlates and its operators are not liable for any loss, direct or indirect, arising from use of this platform or any transaction facilitated through it.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of MarketPlates constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
